As if breaking the 120 entries mark for our forthcoming Megafinal wasn't enough good news, I am delighted to report that the prizes have been boosted by a group of very welcome additions.
Chess in Schools and Communities secured a substantial donation from the Angus Lawson Memorial Trust fund to purchase software, books and medals to be awarded at the discretion of the tournament organiser.
These extra prizes will be presented to children who are keen to improve their game and have the necessary skills to put the material to good use.
The new prizes, which arrived in school yesterday and are already in place for the Megafinal, are in addition to the main UKCC trophies, rosettes and certificates.
It's going to be quite a day!
