This was the first time we have held this event since 2019, so it was very good get the tournament back on track after the lockdown years.
Fairfield A were in the lead after the first of the two Jamboree rounds, but in a dramatic finale, former champions Throston pulled out all of the stops to catch them up.
Defending co-champions couldn't extend their magnificent run of three consecutive victories but I am sure they will be preparing hard to fight back next year.
Final Scores
=1st: Fairfield A, Throston
3rd: Westgarth
4th: Fairfield B
All players received medals, courtesy of CSC. The winning teams received trophies too.
Fairfield, who came on board CSC in September (having only previously had chess sessions from me, back in 1988-9) played their first-ever school matches and the expert tutoring skills of Jo Hutchinson have already turned them into champions.
