Angel Training

It was very good to spend another evening with Marsh’s Angels.

The theme of the session was planning and it is becoming more and more apparent just how much they are improving all of the time.

There will be another all-Angel gathering in the not-too-distant future.

Thank you, everyone!

Webinar Success

Webinar One, Take Two, has now been delivered.

We had 50 people on the call tonight and all went well.

Thank you to the great Catherine Lloyd, who provided invaluable help from start to finish, whether she was wearing glasses for the chat box or not.

Catherine is, of course, known to a lot of readers due to her excellent chess sessions in our local schools and for her role as Training Day assistant all across the UK.

Catherine is also one of the famous Marsh's Angels, who will be meeting up again very soon indeed. Her brave journey from novice chess parent to top tutor is absolutely remarkable and an inspiration to us all.

In Catherine and Jo (who was on duty last Tuesday) I have the two best helpers imaginable. It is no coincidence that they are also my two best friends.

Details of the webinars can be found here.

Webinar Debut

Post-webinar elation after a very successful debut!

We had 46 participants, a very lively chat session and lots of very positive and appreciative comments at the end.

Thank you to the one and only Jo Hutchinson for helping me tonight.
In fact, it was on this very week six years ago that Jo and I first met, at the CSC Hull Training Day, and we have been close and firm friends ever since.

Fiercely loyal, ridiculously talented and always putting others first - without ever asking for anything in return - Jo has also been one of CSC top tutors for many years, as well as being an excellent player.

Jo's year spent in our Teesside curriculum schools helped us recover after the terrible COVID years.

Thank you, Jo!

Details of the webinars can be found here.

Chess Stickers!

Another new term, another innovation.

Catherine Lloyd and I spent some time towards the end of last year helping to design and commission a set of stickers with children’s author and illustrator Sarah Jane Hinder.

These stickers will be used to brighten up the days of our local chess juniors in our curriculum schools.

Each one of our tutors only has a limited number of stickers to award, so play your best chess, be sporting, find a checkmate and you could be one of the proud recipients!

Sarah’s website is here:
