11th Teesside Individual Chess Championships: Report

It is a certainly a busy time here on Teesside, with so many big events happening that it is keeping us all very busy.

Today brought the 11th Teesside Individual Chess Championships, which saw players from primary schools from all over Teesside assemble at Yarm Preparatory School for five tough rounds of chess.

Teesside titles were on the line in three sections: Under-7, Under-9 and Under-11.

81 players entered the tournament and we were very pleased to be able to use the new Yarm Preparatory School hall, which is a magnificent venue.

There were lots of excellent games and all of the children worked extremely hard throughout the day.

When you are the last two to finish...!

Well done and thank you to the control team of Catherine Lloyd and Johannes Grundmann - and to everyone who helped to make the event such a great success!

We will return to Yarm Preparatory School in October for our famous team tournament which will, remarkably, be the 29th such event in our long-running series. Details will be announced at the start of the new school year.
