Training Day Tour 2021-22: A Classic Training Day

It has been a while, but we finally returned to action at the London Chess Classic, for the first time since December 2019.

This year's Training Day Tour has already seen dates in London, Manchester, Stoke and, of course, our online day.

Yet there is always something different about a day at the London Chess Classic, as the delegates have the opportunity to enjoy all other aspects of the famous chess festival.

We had a bumper crop of 15 delegates for the Classic Training Day. Olympia, the Classic venue since the start of the series back in 2009, is no longer available to us but we found the Cavendish Conference Centre to be ideal for our needs.

Another bonus when working at the Classic is the number of guest stars who can come to the training room to meet the delegates. On this occasion we had Malcolm Pein, Chris Fegan, Matt Piper and Aga Milewska, all from CSC and also Grandmasters Matthew Sadler and John Emms.

During the break, the delegates visited the auditorium to experience the live commentary on the FIDE World Chess Championship match between Magnus Carlsen and Ian Nepomniachtchi, from Nigel Short, Matthew Sadler, Julian Hodgson, Stuart Conquest and Natasha Regan.

Of course, the delegates were also there to do some work - and they did plenty of that for me.

Thank you, everyone, for working so hard.

More dates will soon be added to the 2021-22 tour, so keep an eye on this page.
