Today, we continue our coverage of the 5th Teesside Individual Chess Championships with a report on one of the day's special events.
This was the presentation of a Chess Superstar award to Caitlin Anderson, in recognition of her hard work, loyalty and commitment over the course of three action-packed years.
Apart from her universally excellent chess results - including a terrific Megafinal triumph - Caitlin has been helping me teach the Westgarth Year 4s this term. Back in December she captained CSC Teesside on their famous trip to the London Chess Classic, where she even made the opening move for former World Champion Anand. Caitlin spoke about the experience in our February interview. This is all in addition to the numerous times Caitlin has captained the Westgarth team to success and everything else she has done to support Teesside chess over the years.
